Suryakumar Yadav replaces KL Rahul in India’s Test squad

The first Test between India and New Zealand is slated to be played between November 25-29 in Kanpur followed by the second match from December 3 to 7 in Mumbai.

Kanpur, Nov 23 (UNI) Suryakumar Yadav has replaced KL Rahul in India’s 15-man Test squad against New Zealand, the BCCI announced on Tuesday.

In a statement, the Indian cricketing board said that Rahul “sustained a muscle strain on his left thigh” and subsequently has been ruled out of the two-match Test series.

“Team India batsman KL Rahul has sustained a muscle strain on his left thigh and has been ruled out of the upcoming 2-match Test series against New Zealand,” the BCCI said.

Rahul, who was appointed as India vice-captain in the concluded T20I series, will now undergo rehabilitation at National Cricket Academy (NCA) to prepare for the series against South Africa scheduled in mid-December.

Suryakumar shone with the bat in the first T20I against New Zealand in Jaipur. The right-hander, who was adjudged Player of the Match, impressed with 62 off 40 balls.
