Bangkok: Thailand on Tuesday reported 11,786 new COVID-19 cases and 136 additional fatalities, according to the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).
New cases went down again for three days in a roll after reporting a spike of over 15,000 cases on Saturday. Out of the new cases reported, 2,788 were found in the capital Bangkok, the epicentre of the country’s worst outbreak so far.
The CCSA also said that 14,738 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals over the past 24 hours after making a full recovery, nearly 3,000 more than the number of new infections.
Since the beginning of the pandemic early last year, there have been 1,406,542 COVID-19 cases and 14,621 cumulative deaths in Thailand.
A total of 40.9 million COVID-19 vaccines have been administered between February 28 and 13, out of which 676,669 were injected on Monday.
Roughly 18 per cent of Thailand’s 69-million population have been fully vaccinated so far. The country aims to inoculate 70 per cent of its population by the end of this year.
