Imphal: A combined team of NAB-PS and Singjamei Police arrested two persons from Canchipur area near Heijingang Super Market and seized a huge amount of medicines related to Covid-19 from them on Sunday.
The two persons have been identified as Mohammad Feroz Khan (30 years), son of Md. Heffajuddin of Moreh Ward No. 5 Muslim Nagar Makha Leikai, Tengnoupal District, and Imran Khan (22 years), son of late Abdullah of Moreh Ward No. 5 Muslim Nagar Mayai Leikai, Tengnoupal District, Manipur.
One Maruti van bearing registration No. AS 01DA-3148, silver in colour, two cartoon boxes suspected to be COVID-19 medicines which contained 48 numbers of packets on which was written DESREM Rx Remdesivir for injection 100 mg/vial, Lyophilized powder for injection for IV Infusion Discard Unused Portion single-dose vial Sterile, 100 numbers of bottles written as SII ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 Corona Virus Vaccine (Recombinant) COVISHIELD 5ml- 10 doses which were for transporting to Myanmar through Moreh were seized from them.
On further questioning, they disclosed that the seized items were handed over to them at Hatta by one Subhamkumar Anand (23 years) son of Rabindra Prasad Gupta of Kathiar Pratap Ganj, Bihar at present – BT Road Roopmahal Tank, Imphal.
Subhamkumar Anand was also called up and arrested on the spot at 3:40 pm on Sunday. In this regard, a case has been registered at Singjamei Police Station for further investigation.
