Kohima: The Kohima District Task Force (DTF) on COVID-19 had a meeting with the representatives of ward and colony Wednesday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner &
Chairman DTF Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie at District Planning and Development Board’s
Conference Hall in Kohima.
Official sources said that Commissioner Gregory informed the gathering that the meeting was convened to call for concerted efforts from all corners of the district towards successful implementation of the Micro-Isolation Zone (MIZ), notified by the State Government.
He said the concept of MIZ has been conceived with the aim to cause minimal disruption to normal life and economic activities by isolating a defined small geographical area which might be a small as
a building from the rest.
As in Containment Zones, restriction of movement, social distancing, enhanced active surveillance, testing all suspected cases, isolation of cases and intensive IEC on Covid Appropriate Behaviours
and other preventive and safety public health measures will be put in place.
DC said that depending on the number of COVID-19 cases and number of houses with COVID-19 cases, a cluster of houses or a locality-colony, block, khel (clan), ward and village will be declared as MIZ.
In this connection, the DC called for collective efforts from all the wards and colonies to join hands and assist the DTF in identifying the household and provide required information to implement the exercise effectively so as to break the chain of transmission.
Appreciating the Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayat (AKMWP), wards and colonies for extending their best cooperation and efforts in containing the spread of the disease so far, the DC further solicited their continue supports and efforts in this fight to avoid further worst situation in the district.
He said the 2nd wave was not over yet and the prevailing positivity rate and the risk associated with the impending 3rd wave was a great concern, where the district needs to scale up the testing and vaccination and urged them to put more efforts in this areas.
