Heavy rain cuts off Melli in South Sikkim from rest of state

Gangtok: Heavy rainfall in Melli, South Sikkim created a flood-like situation with debris floating on the road, obstructing commuters and vehicular movements and cutting off the town from rest of the state here on Friday.
Those affected tried to remove the stones and slush on their own.
The National Highway-10 was also blocked at several points, including 29th, 30th and 32nd mile to Gangtok till this morning.
From 0100 hrs onwards the heavy vehicles, including the newspaper vans had to stay put, affecting the delivery of news dailies to the town.
National Road authority officers and engineers managed to clear the NH-10, which connects Sikkim to the rest of the nation via West Bengal, temporarily by evening.
