Imphal: Manipur has recorded 13 more deaths due to COVID-19 and 495 fresh cases of the disease, according to data shared by the health department on Thursday.
These 10 fatalities have pushed the death toll in the state to 1,021. The total positive case in the state is 9,102.
Thirteen persons – One each at Raj Medicity and District Hospital Ukhrul, three at RIMS and four each at JNIMS and Shija Hospital expired. Among them two each were from Imphal West and Kangpokpi, six from Imphal East and one each at Kakchng, Bhisnupur and Ukhrul.
On Wednesday, 752 cases and 10 deaths were reported, indicating a significant fall in the count of daily infection. However, the death count is still a major concern.
Manipur has been reeling under a brutal second wave of the pandemic that is sweeping the country, claiming a massive number of lives daily, with the recent oxygen supply shortage issue at various hospitals, adding to the woes. However, the number of cases has shown a downward trend despite there appears some fluctuation.
The number of cumulative cases on Thursday stood at 62,343. Over 52,220 patients have recovered from the virus. The recovery rate is 83.76 per cent. Like the previous day, Imphal West has the maximum number of active cases at 143 and followed by Imphal East at 107.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1856 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 432 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of Manipur.
On the vaccination front, a total of 4,83,335 doses have been administered so far this year, of which 5,903 were administered in the past 24 hours.
