Aizwal: A meeting of the District Wildlife Crime Control Sub-Unit (DWCCSU), Lawngtlai District was held Monday at the SP’s Conference Hall, Lawngtlai under the chairmanship of Superintendent of Police Lawngtlai Pu DKS Singh, IPS.
The Chairman delivered a welcome address stressing on the importance of conservation of wildlife. Member Secretary, Pu Samson Thanruma, Deputy Conservator of Forests, Chhimtuipui Wildlife Division gave a brief report. As per his reports, there were 7 cases of wildlife crime committed within Chhimtuipui Wildlife Division area in the year 2020, most of them were already settled while 2 cases are being processed in the court.
The meeting deliberated upon various proposals and suggestions and finalised activities to be carried out for the conservation of wildlife and mitigation of poaching including awareness campaigns through churches, Central YLA, MJA and Phawngpui Photographers’ Association and more frequent joint operations.
