Senapati: Senapati District Administration celebrated the 77th Republic Day with patriotic fervour at the Sanyi Dahrii Sports Complex, Khabung Karong, on Sunday.
Deputy Commissioner Mamoni Doley, IAS, attended the function as Chief Guest, took the Guard of Honour, and inspected the parade contingents along with Superintendent of Police Shaikh Mohd Zaib Zakir, IPS. The Deputy Commissioner unfurled the National Tricolour and received the salute from 16 march-past contingents comprising CRPF, Manipur Police (men and women), Village Defence Force, NCC units, and college contingents. The parade was led by Shivin, IPS (Probationary Officer).
In her address, the Deputy Commissioner recalled the adoption of the Constitution on January 26, 1950, and urged citizens to uphold the values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. She highlighted the historic visit of President Droupadi Murmu to Senapati district in December 2025, noting that it acted as a catalyst for development and promoted harmony between hill and valley regions.
The DC informed about the transition from MGNREGA to the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rojgar and Ajeevika Mission Grameen Act, 2025, which increases the employment guarantee to 125 days per year. She also highlighted progress in women-led development, tribal welfare initiatives, and the successful implementation of various central schemes.
She further stated that Senapati district was recognised as the “Best Performing District” under the Dharti Abha Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, receiving a Certificate of Achievement from the President of India in October 2025. The programme concluded with an overview of ongoing infrastructure and governance initiatives aimed at strengthening grassroots development across the district.
