Tengnoupal: The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at Tengnoupal High School Ground, the district headquarters, on Sunday. Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Yadav, IAS, attended the function as Chief Guest and unfurled the National Flag, followed by the Rashtriya Salute.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the significance of Republic Day alongside the commemoration of 150 years of Vande Mataram. He emphasised unity in diversity, the need for vigilance in view of the district’s strategic location, and collective responsibility in ensuring peace, security, and development.
The DC outlined key developmental achievements of Tengnoupal district, including progress under MGNREGS, the Vibrant Villages Programme Phase-II, MSRLM, and various livelihood and skill development initiatives. He also highlighted welfare measures under the National Social Assistance Programme and the Annapurna Scheme.
A ceremonial march past was led by Rajnish Patel, IPS, with contingents from the district police, central armed forces, NCC units, and local schools. Cultural performances were presented by youth clubs and schools.
As part of the celebrations, appreciation certificates were awarded to government employees and police personnel for their services, while blankets and sports materials were distributed to village leaders and youth clubs.
The event was attended by Rahul Gupta, IPS, SP Tengnoupal; senior district officials; and representatives from various departments.
