6.69 crore households provided tap water connections under JJM

The minister further said JJM is being implemented in partnership with States including West Bengal, since August 2019 to make provision potable tap water supply to every rural household in the country by 2024.

New Delhi: A total of 6.69 crore rural households have been provided with tap water connections so far under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti Prahlad Singh Patel on Thursday.

In a written reply in Lok Sabha over a question related to JJM, the minister said, “At the time of announcement of JJM, 3.23 crore rural households were reported to have tap water connections. So far, 6.69 crore households, including 42.85 lakh in West Bengal, have been provided with tap water connections in the last 35 months.”

He also informed that as of August 1 this year, out of 19.11 crore rural households in the country, around 9.92 crores (51.93 percent) households are reported to have tap water supply in their homes and the remaining 9.19 crore are planned to be covered by 2024.

The minister further said JJM is being implemented in partnership with States including West Bengal, since August 2019 to make provision potable tap water supply to every rural household in the country by 2024.
