Damascus: Five civilians were killed and 30 others were injured after a bus hit a landmine in southern Syria, Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported on Saturday.
According to the report, the bus was carrying wheat harvest workers before hitting the mine near the Deir al-Adas village in the Daraa Governorate in southern Syria.
Syria has been facing yet another conflict with multiple terrorist groups since 2014. In September 2014, a US-led coalition began counter-terrorist activities in the Arab republic, launching airstrikes on the radicals. In 2015, Syrian President Bashar Assad made a formal request to Russia to help in the fight against terrorists. Moscow launched its operation in August 2015 by sending warplanes, T-90 tanks, and artillery to an airbase near the Syrian port city of Latakia.
