Agartala:A 49 years old man from Pauamura area of Grajee in Gomati district has been on run after allegedly chopping off the hand of his mother in an inebriated condition following a brief quarrel.
Namita Ghosh (75) has been admitted to the hospital. Due to heavy blood loss, the victim lady became seriously ill and underwent treatment.
The incident happened on Saturday night but the neighbours ignored the chaos as a regular affair initially, but late in the night people heard loud screams of the elderly lady freaking out in extreme pain.
A neighbour of the Ghosh family found her lying on the floor bleeding profusely with the lower part of her right-hand slit apart from her body.
Due to heavy blood loss, the victim lady became seriously ill and underwent treatment.
The accused was beaten up seriously by neighbours before he could escape from the spot.
Police have continued search operations to detain the accused but could not trace him yet. Police said Bimal Ghosh is an addict and often he used to get engaged in quarrels with his mother.
Last night also he was intoxicated and quarreling with his mother for money. When she refused to give him money and in a fit of rage, he attacked his mother with a sharp weapon, which was seized from the spot.
