Imphal: Two Bronze medals in Taekwondo by Naoroibam Jina Devi (46 kg) in the Kyorugi event and Individual Poomsae Female Umelly Mangshatabam (Bronze) in Ponda Multipurpose Indoor stadium was the highlight of the day for the Manipur contingent in ongoing 37th National Games at Goa.
In the Women’s critical football match played at the Tilak Football Maidan Ground, Manipur defeated Tamil Nadu (2-0) while in the Men’s football played at Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium, Manipur defeated Meghalaya (2-1).
In the Archery’s Indian round being competed at the Goa Engineering College the women’s team of W. Maleshwori, I. Rojina and K Sandiya entered the final round. W. Maleshwori and Th Haller also entered the final in the mixed team.
Sepak Takraw being one of the disciplines from which the Manipur team is expected to excel in the present National Games, the matches are in progress.
In the women’s Regu event of Sepak Takraw Manipur beat Nagaland 2-0, (21-11) (22-12). In the women’s team event, Manipur beat Bihar while in the men’s; Manipur beat Andhra Pradesh (2-1). In the men’s Regu, Manipur beat Maharashtra (2-0).
