Islamabad: Three Pakistani soldiers and two terrorists were killed in military operations in Pakistan’s northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army, said on Friday night in a statement that security personnel engaged with terrorists in three separate locations in the province.
The ISPR said one terrorist was killed, and two others were injured during an intelligence-based operation conducted in the Rori area of Dera Ismail Khan district of the province.
The killed terrorist belonged to the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), and was planning to carry out a high-profile incident in the area, the ISPR said.
Separately, an improvised explosive device exploded in the Kulachi area of Dera Ismail Khan district, killing a soldier on the spot, it added.
In another operation, two soldiers and a terrorist were killed during an exchange of fire with terrorists in the Lakki Marwat district of the province.
Sanitization operations are being carried out to eliminate any terrorists present in the area as the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country, according to the military.
