25 acres of poppy plantation destroyed in Manipur

Imphal: A combined team of Kangpokpi District Police,  MPTC, IRB ,  NAB, and Forest department destroyed 25 acres of illegal poppy plantation at Thingphai and Leisan ( Tanrui) hill range under Kangpokpi and Ukhrul District on Tuesday.

As a part of War on Drugs 2.0, NAB arrested three individuals  from a passenger bus  bearing registration number MN-04P- 0844.

 The arrested persons are: Md. Ibungo, 36, son of Md. Khamad Ali, from Sangaiyumpham, Part-1, Nungthou Mamang Leikai; Md. Atao Rahaman, 27, son of  Md. Abdul Malik from Yairipok Tulihal Mayai Leikai, Imphal –East  and  Md. Kudus, 23, son of (L) Jalaruddin from Sangaiyumpham Mairin khun, Thoubal, on Tuesday. 

From them 33 plastic soap cases containing suspected Heroin powder weighing 416 grams including the weight of the soap cases were recovered. A case has been registered at NAB PS for further investigation,  according to a press note from the PRO, Manipur Police.
