Chennai: Two workers were killed on the spot and an
equal number were injured in a blast at a cracker maufacturing unit
at Anaiyur near Sivakasi in the southern Virudhunagar district of
Tamil Nadu today.
Police said both the injured were women.
The blast occured due to friction when the workers were handling
chemicals in making fancy crackers at the Modern Fireworks.
Police said the deceased were identified as P.Karuppasamy (28) and
V.Thangavelu (55) of Idaiyankulam and their bodies were shifted to
government hospital for psot mortem.
Both the injured women were admitted to government hospital for
treatment.
Police have registered a case and are investigating.
