18 soldiers killed in explosion near Syrian capital

Damascus: Eighteen soldiers were killed and 27 others injured in an explosion on a military bus on the outskirts of the Syrian capital early on Thursday, Syria’s state news agency SANA reported.

The explosion was caused by a device that had been previously affixed under the bus, said the report, citing a military source.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
