Muzaffarpur: At least 16 children were feared drowned in a boat tragedy in Bagmati river near Mahupatti bank under Benibad police outpost of Muzaffarpur district in Bihar on Thursday.
Deputy police superintendent of Muzaffarpur East Shaharyar Akhtar said hear that as per initial information 33 children were on the boat which overturned due to the high current of the river water.
He said that 17 children have been rescued so far with the help of local people.
The search operation to trace the rest of the children was going on war footing under the supervision of local Administration and police officers. The children rescued have been admitted at local Hospital.
The tragedy took place as the boat was overloaded.
