10 injured in blast in NW Pakistan

Islamabad: A bomb went off in Pakistan’s northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Friday afternoon, leaving at least 10 people injured, including policemen, rescuers, and police officers.

According to police in the area, a police van was targeted with an improvised explosive device planted on a motorcycle in Ponda Bazar, in the Dera Ismail Khan district of the province.

Following the incident, a heavy contingent of police along with rescue teams reached the area and shifted the wounded to a nearby hospital, where at least two people were said to be in critical condition.

Security forces cordoned off the place and kicked off a search operation in the surrounding areas.

No group or individual claimed responsibility for the blast.
