Imphal: In the last five hours leading up to 5 pm of Tuesday Manipur, there was no report of any positive cases, recoveries and Covid-related deaths, as per an official release from the Health Department.
Altogether, five persons were tested amounting to a positivity rate of 0.0 %.
The number of active cases in the state remains on 2 as on Monday. The cumulative numbers of positive cases in the state stand at 1, 39, 922.
As on December 19, 2022, 39 were vaccinated, bringing the total number of vaccination to 32,65,680 (1st dose 16,48,653, 2nd dose 13,37,927 and precautionary dose 2,79,095).
Meanwhile, Union Health Ministry has written to all states to increase genome sequencing of positive cases to track coronavirus variants through the INSACOG network.
“ln view of the sudden spurt of cases being witnessed in Japan, United States of America, Republic of Korea, Brazil and China, it is essential to gear up the whole genome sequencing of positive case samples to track the variants through…INSACOG network,” Health Ministry Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said in the letter to all states.
“Such an exercise will enable timely detection of newer variants, if any, circulating in the country and will facilitate undertaking of requisite public health measures for the same,” Bhushan said.
