Imphal: The High Court of Calcutta has cancelled the bail granted to the main accused in the Jay Prakash Yadav murder case. This case was one of the prominent cases of post-poll violence in West Bengal.
CBI had registered the instant case on August 25, 2021 on the orders of High Court of Calcutta and had taken over the investigation of the case, earlier registered at Police Station Bhatpara, District North 24 Parganas vide FIR No. 282/2021 dated June 6, 2021 against three accused and unknown person on the allegations that the accused visited the house of a victim and abused him & other members. One of the accused allegedly hurled a bomb on the forehead of said victim and due to explosion of the bomb, he died.
After investigation, a charge sheet was filed against the four accused on 03.09.2021 before the Competent Court. Further investigation is being conducted.
The Court of ADJ 3rd, Barrackpore (West Bengal) granted bail to the main accused on November 9, 2021. CBI filed a petition in the High Court of Calcutta for cancellation of the bail. The Calcutta High Court has cancelled the order granting bail to accused and directed him to surrender within 48 hours before the Concerned Court, as per a press note issued by the Spokesperson, CBI HQ.
