Kolhapur, Satara: Three members of a family, including a woman, were killed on the spot while two others injured in an accident that occurred near Satara on the Pune-Bangalore national highway Saturday morning.
According to Satara highway police, five members of a family, residents of Shahunagar in Jaysingpur town of Kolhapur district, were returning home from Mumbai after consoled their relatives following the death of a relative in Mumbai.
Near Bombay Restaurant, their car driver lost control following a burst tyre, and the car overturned on the Pune-Bangalore national highway. In this incident, three people were killed on the spot, while two others injured and admitted to a civil hospital in Satara.
Police identified the deceased as Shahikant Savvakhande (50), his son Nikhil (30), and his daughter-in-law (Nikhil’s wife), Priyanka (25).
Police are investigating further.
