Imphal: The state government, led by N Biren Singh, has decided to hold municipal and rural local body elections in the first weeks of March and April, respectively.
A cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister on Monday evening also decided to hold the 3rd session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly on 2nd February 2023.
IPR and Health Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh told reporters that the cabinet has decided to hold elections for the autonomous district council after the delimitation process is completed.
The minister informed that some experienced government officials’ service extensions or re-engagement had been accepted based on their performance and requirements in the department.
Joint Secretary, Revenue, Y. Rajen Singh, MCS, Chief Engineer, MHPDCL, Joint Secretary, Home, Chief Engineer, OBEDS, are among those whose services got extended by the cabinet.
The cabinet has also approved the recruitment of 62 different posts in the Manipur AIDS Control Society, 97 posts in the Paediatric Care Center, RIMS by NHM, 18 posts for Relief and Disaster Management, 90 section officers in PWD, 98 SOs and 50 MTS in PHED, 10 drivers in GAD on a daily wage basis, and 67 posts in the Forensic Science Lab.
The cabinet has also approved conducting viva-voce in the recruitment of constables, head constables, and followers.
The cabinet also decided to launch the Chief Minister’s Entrepreneurship Support Scheme to encourage interested entrepreneurs of the state with a 30 per cent subsidy from the government.
Start-up Scheme 0.2 will also be started. The cabinet also approved the opening of a Sainik school at Bishnupur on a PPP model. The cabinet debated 46 items on its agenda, some of which were postponed. Some unlisted agendas were also discussed during the sitting, Ranjan added.
