Imphal: The last 24 hours leading up to 4 pm of Saturday saw only one Covid-19 related death in Manipur, a 70-year-old male resident of Imphal West who expired at Raj Medicity. With this death, the cumulative fatality in the state due to the pandemic now stands at 233 as per an official release from the Covid-19 Common Control Room.
During the same period, 25 new Covid-19 positive cases were detected during. In total 229 persons (121M, 108F) from the general population were found positive which includes 25 from the Targeted Testing in Wangoi and Wangjing Assembly Constituencies and 41 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were also confirmed as new COVIDI9 positive cases.
98 of these 229 positive persons from the general population belong to Imphal West, 56 of them are from Imphal East, 21 are from Bishnupur, 20 are from Thoubal, 14 of them belong to Churachandpur,5 each to Tamenglong, Senapati and Kangpokpi, 2 to Kakching and 1 each to Chandel, Ukhrul and Tengnoupal. All 229 persons are locals with no significant travel history.
Meanwhile, 193 were discharged from Home Isolation and various CCCs of the state. 59 of these are from Home Isolation 34 from CAPF, 23 from LKK, 22 from UNACCO, 19 from RIMS, 15 from JNIMS, 6 from Thoubal, 4 from TK Ukhrul, 3 each from RD Wing and PR Kakching,2 each from Sadbhavna and Bal Bhavan and 1 from Jiribam.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 23,018 (General Population – 20,047 and Central Security Personnel – 2,971). The cumulative number of recovered cases is 19,813 (General Population – 17,059 and Central Security Personnel – 2,754). The number of active cases is 2,972 (General Population – 2,759 and Central Security Personnel – 213). The recovery rate is 86.07%, the release added.
