Imphal: The upward spike of positive cases in Manipur continues with 426 testing positive in the last 24 hours leading up to 4 pm of Saturday, the highest number till date, since the outbreak of the pandemic in the state.
Meanwhile, a 82 year old male resident of Imphal East and a 63 year old female resident of Chandel expired at Shija Hospital and Jivan Hospital respectively taking the cumulative death tool due to the pandemic in Manipur to 111, said a press note issued by the Spokesperson of Health Department, Kh Sahseekumar.
Among the 426 persons who tested positive, 416 are from the general population while 10 personnel are from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF). 404 from the general population are locals with no significant travel history. 181 of the positive cases from general population are from Imphal West, 124 from Imphal East, 26 are form Tamenglong, 24 from Thoubal, 19 from Churachandpur, 15 from Bishnupur, 7 from Tengnoupal , 5 each from Kamjong and Ukhrul, 3 each from Kakching and Chandel, 2 from Kangpokpi amd 1 each from Jiribam and Senapati. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
Meanwhile, 198 persons were discharged from various CCCs of the state. These include 43 from CAPF, 29 from Lamboikhongnagkhong, 16 from JNIMS, 15 from Sadbhavna, 14 from Chandel, 12each from Lanva and Bishnupur, 10 from Home Isolation, 9 from UNACCO, 8 fro,m Lamding, 6 from RD Wing, 4 each from Thoubal, Jiribam and Senapati, 3 eah from TK Ukhrul and Tamenglong and 2 from Kangpokpi.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 15,141 (General Population – 12,511 and Central Security Personnel – 2,630). The cumulative number of recovered cases is 11,443 (General Population – 9,127 and Central Security Personnel – 2,316). The number of active cases is 3,587 (General Population – 3277 and Central Security Personnel – 310). The recovery rate is 75.57%, the press note added.
