Manipur Police detain 272 SOP violators

Imphal: In its continuing crackdown on violators of guidelines and restrictions issued by the State Government and the State Disaster Management Authority in connection with COVID-19 Pandemic, including failure to wear a mask in public places, failure to maintain social distancing in public places, spitting in public places, Manipur Police detained 272 persons Tuesday. They were later released after a stern warning.

During the drive, a sum of Rs. 43,530/- (forty-three thousand five and hundred thirty) was collected from the violators as per law, said a press note signed by Staff officer to the Inspector General (Ops) for Nodal Officer (Covid-19) for Manipur Police.

The press note also warned that those who violate the guidelines and restrictions shall be dealt with strong legal action under the National Disaster Management Act 2005 and other appropriate laws.
