Manipur Police continues crackdown on violators of pandemic guidelines

Imphal: Manipur Police in its continuing to crack down on violators of guidelines and restrictions issued by the State Government and the State Disaster Management Authority in connection with COVID-19 Pandemic, including failure to wear mask in public places, failure to maintain social distancing in public places, spitting in public places, among others, detained 551 persons released later Saturday after due warnings.

Further, a sum of Rs. 93,390/- (ninety three thousand three hundred and ninety) was collected from the violators as per law, said a press note issued by the Inspector General of Police and Nodal Officer (Covid-19), E Priyokumar.

The press note also warned that those who violate the guidelines and restrictions shall be dealt with strong legal action under National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other appropriate laws.
