Imphal: Director General of Police, Manipur, L M Khaute warned that the police department will take necessary action as per law if people are found congregating, moving about and driving on the roads without valid during curfew hours.
In an appeal via a video clip, DGP Khaute said that the Centre and the states have been taking up various steps to fight the spread of coronavirus. As part of these steps, the government of Manipur has imposed curfew in the whole of the state.
DGP L M Khaute on behalf of the Manipur Police Department appealed to the people of Manipur to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the Central and State Government to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among the general public.
Stating that only those engaged in providing essential services and authorized personnel are allowed movement, he urged the general public not to come out of their homes as long as curfew is in place. Further, he requested that only one person per family should come out to get essential items and groceries during the time allotted by the government, he also reminded them not to use vehicle.
While buying groceries and medicines, there should be no crowding and social distancing should be maintained while standing in queue in these shops and pharmacies, he added.
DGP Khaute also appealed to the people not to congregate in religious places like, temples, churches, Mosque etc. Informing that the state government has also opened facilities where those coming into the state are quarantined as a precautionary measure, he appealed to all to cooperate with the police department in implementing these preventive steps taken up by the Government of Manipur.
