Imphal: With the first positive case of Coronavirus reported in the state, Manipur Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh reiterated on Tuesday his appeals to the people to strictly follow government instructions and stay indoors to prevent the deadly disease from spreading further.

Earlier during the day, a girl from Thangmeiband, who came from the United Kingdom, was found positive of the pandemic disease. She is now in isolation at the Jawarharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Science, Imphal East.

In a televised message, Biren also advised people who came to Manipur from outside the state to self-quarantine for at least a few days so that everyone can collectively control the virus.

Stating that the present curfew being imposed in the whole state will continue for more days, the Chief Minister said that many people are not following the instructions and curfew seriously, which is very unfortunate.

Citing how China coped with the deadly disease in a short time, the Chief Minister urged the people to “maintain strict discipline so that we too can prevent this disease”.

He said rations for at least one month are being sent for free to many locations and people with NFSA or CMHT cards can assess them.
