Kohima: The 28th Loyem Memorial Penalty Shootout kick starts on Thursday at Loyem Memorial ground Tuensang.
Kumar Ramnikant, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang was the Chief Guest of the shootout programme. The penalty shootout is participated by 46 teams under the theme “Kick Social Discrimination” organized by Confederation of Chang Students’ Union.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest applauded the organizing committee and CCSU for bringing up such event in times of pandemic with proper SOP and guidelines. As the theme states, it is very true that discrimination does exist with humans yes but fighting discrimination in form of sports is a good spirit, he said. He encouraged all the participating teams to play with team spirit so that the true spirit of the sports can be achieved.
He also advised all the teams to maintain proper guidelines and maintain the SOP so that together we with the cooperation we can beat the COVID 19.
Mongba, Convener LMT also in his welcome address said LMT has been organised since 27 years ago as a senior soccer open championship but due to the global pandemic the 28th edition has been reduced to Penalty Shoot in order avoid untoward happening during this times.
Beti Bachao Beti Padhao exhibition matches were played between girl students of Baptist Thangyen School vs Wela Foundation School and Holy Angels School VS Tuensang Village Sports Foundation.
An exhibition match was also played between DC Tuensang Team VS SP Tuensang Team.
